The Leaders-In-Training (LIT) Program is for our oldest campers (age 16-17 on the first day of camp). LITs will enjoy a fun-filled week of Camp Blue Hawk focused on transitioning into independent adults as well as leaders and positive examples for the next generation of campers. LITs will stay in camper cabins with 2 Counselors and 1 Counselor-In-Training (CIT) but will experience a specialized schedule combining traditional camp activities with leadership training, and diabetes management education.

In addition to assisting their Cabin Counselor and CIT with younger campers, LITs will also be in charge of planning and facilitating the camp Relay Race at the end of the week for the entire camp, giving them the opportunity to put to practice the leadership development skills they will learn throughout camp.

Lastly, this week of camp will serve as an “interview week” for when LITs are 18 years old and can apply for the Counselor-In-Training position.

Registration for Summer Camp is a two step process:

Step 1: Application

  • Parents/guardians of potential camper will complete a short application for the child they would like to register for camp.
  • That application will be reviewed, and if approved, the camper will be registered for the camp session automatically.

Step 2: Deposit & Health Profile

  • Parents/guardians will receive and email notifying them of their child's acceptance into Summer Camp.
  • Parents/guardians can then log into CampDoc.com and pay the $50 deposit and complete their child's Participant Profile.

Please Note: Spots are filled on a first come-first served basis within gender and age groupings. A camper's spot will not be reserved until the $50 deposit has been paid.

The one exception to this is if the camper has received a full camper scholarship, in which case, the camper's spot will not be reserved until the Participant Profile is 100% complete.
